Seniors (55+) Art Classes
Over the month of October 2021, the RHAC hosted a series of 5 week art classes taught by professional artists and geared at engaging our 55+ community in the arts.
Classes that were offered included: folk dancing, open mic nights, sing songs, creative legacy writing, handbuilding ceramics, paper mâché creations, reduction linocut printmaking, glass fusing, and singing with celebrity Lanny Shum.
Our seniors art classes will be returning this spring 2022 with new classes and times! Stay tuned!
Richmond Hill Arts Festival
On Saturday, November 20th, 2021 the RHAC hosted our inaugural Richmond Hill Arts Festival in-person event at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.
The event featured local artist vendors and performances by talented musicians and singers provided by York Region Open Mic. We also showcased art work made by our seniors who participated in the art classes and featured an activity for attendees of all ages to doodle an inspiration or picture on a post-it note to include on our “Art is Ageless” themed poster board.
Art is Ageless Classes & Special Workshops
Our Art is Ageless Mentoring Classes and Special Workshops are projected to begin in the spring of 2022. The Art is Ageless Classes are intended to be an extension of the seniors art classes we offered in October 2021, however this time with a focus on seniors mentoring the younger generation while learning about art together.
Our Special Workshops are also intended to be an extension of the seniors art classes from October 2021, however these classes will be one-time single day workshops instead of 5-week sessions.

Tea with the Artists - Show & Sell Event, &
Art Festival Market
Projected to begin in the spring of 2022, the RHAC is working hard to plan and host a series of Tea with the Artist events that will feature vendors and performers. We are hoping to host multiple starting in spring 2022 and ending in the fall of 2022.
We are also planning to host another Art Festival Market this year that will feature art and creations for sale made my local artist vendors and small business owners, as well as performances by talented musicians and singers from all ages and genres!
