Event Type

Welcome to the magical world of fused glass art! What exactly is fused glass? It is the process of joining pieces of cut glass together by heating them in a kiln until they melt and are fused into a single piece of glass.

Participants will become familiarized with the basic glass cutting tools, kilns, sheet glass, glass powders, stringers and globs. How to handle glass safely and confidently will also be covered. During this class series participants will design and decorate six different projects, each highlighting a new technique and glass embellishments. At the end of each class the work will be taken back to Wendy’s studio where it will be fired.

TEACHERS BIO

Wendy Emery studied Fine Arts at York University where she earned her BFA. She has a background in various media however she has had a life long love of the magical qualities of glass. Its brilliant colours that dance and change as light passes through it, its clarity, its textures and its illusion of fluidity are all captivating.

Wendy first began her journey with glass learning and perfecting skills in stained glass but for the last 16 years she has specialized in fused glass art and the endless possibilities it has to offer.
Wendy is very detail oriented and draws inspiration from nature as well the physical world around her. Inspiration can be found as bees bounce from flower to flower in her garden or in her morning cup of coffee as bubbles float and cling to the rim.

Wendy enjoys sharing her expertise through teaching and has been working in art education throughout her career, teaching students aged 4-84!!!
